Saudi MoJ updates regulations of Code of Law Practice

The Saudi Minister of Justice, H.E. Walid Al-Samaani, has approved new implementing regulations for the Code of Law Practice. These regulations establish procedures, controls, and rules to enhance the application of the Code of Law Practice.
The new regulations advance the regulatory framework for training with law firms and accredited training centers. The aim is to ensure high-quality, efficient training, increase training opportunities, streamline registration mechanisms, and clearly outline the rights and obligations of trainers and trainees.
The updated regulations are designed to align the legal profession with global best practices, enhancing Saudi Arabia's competitiveness and improving its business environment. This supports the provision of essential legal services for investors and business owners across various sectors.
Key highlights include measures to raise professional competence, activate lawyers' social and professional responsibility, and enforce adherence to ethical standards. The regulations also aim to advance the legal profession, elevate professional standards, and foster innovation, contributing to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and national transformation goals.
Notably, the new regulations consolidate subsidiary rules, including those for licensing foreign law firms and procedures for filing and handling disciplinary cases. They also introduce rules to manage conflicts of interest for former judiciary members.
